BOBO'S NEW ZEALAND VACATION PAGE 1

Much like Las Vegas, we pick up the story before we even leave Canadian
soil. Pictured below, we see our furry hero in September of 1996 getting
his airline ticket being presented to him by the lovely manager of the
local Elgin Travel. Bobo, as always, pouring on the charm even got a little
pinch on the bottom!

|
Unfortunately, our trip nearly ended before it began. It
was the same day that we landed in Auckland, December 26th, that authorities
caught up with him over some outstanding warrants from Las Vegas. He was
taken into custody and was scheduled to do some hard time, but his size
worked to his advantage, for when the police turned their back, Bobo slipped
away.

With that unfortunate incident behind us, we stopped into Kally Tarlton's
Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World. A fabulous place where you walk
through glass tunnels through an aquarium. Bobo came face to face with
a shark. That put a bit too much of a fright into the little puppy, so
he settled for a picture with some cardboard cutout fish instead.
|
|
But, with only a month in New Zealand, Bobo couldn't stay in Auckland
forever. So, with a pack strapped to his back, Bobo headed south, to see
how much he could see. After visiting the caves of Waitomo, Bobo's eye
fell upon the Arapuni Swing Bridge. He couldn't help but feel a thrill
as he looked over the edge into the raging waters below. Hmmmm, could that
be foreshadowing?

|
Further down the road, Bobo stepped into the rather pungent city of
Rotorua. With plenty of geo-thermal activity (boiling mud) and the stench
of sulfur, Bobo decided to seek refuge on top of the highest peak of the
city, and peering over the edge of the fence for the best view in town.
|
|
However, what goes up, must come down. And there can't be a much more
thrilling way to do so than by using one of Rotorua's famous street luges.
Bobo's height didn't really help him too much though. It's a little tough
to take a high speed hairpin turn when your paws don't even reach the handlebars.
